San Francisco Good Vibrations to Display Vibratex's 'Pleasure as Art' Piece

SAN FRANCISCO — “Pleasure as Art,” an art piece commissioned by Magic Wand’s North American importer Vibratex, will be on display later this month at the Good Vibrations downtown location in San Francisco.

The piece will be located prominently in the Good Vibrations store window facing Mission Street, marking the sculpture’s first street display.

“Our whole team is excited for this opportunity,” explained Vibratex CEO Ken Herskovitz. “We’re so grateful for our friends at Good Vibrations and can’t wait to share the piece with everyone who drives or walks by their storefront.”

Vibratex commissioned Miami-based artist Dafne Blade to create the large sculpture, which makes use of 100 decommissioned wands and features an original painting.

Mashable referred to Blade’s “Pleasure as Art” as “not only stunning, but evocative of ‘Game of Thrones.’”

The artwork's residency at Good Vibrations, a rep said, marks “yet another chapter in Vibratex’s strong and lengthy partnership with the iconic retailer. In fact, Magic Wand has been a major part of Good Vibrations’ story from the very start. Having the sculpture on display at Good Vibrations is a great new chapter in this collaborative history.”

Good Vibrations Marketing Director Lisa Finn said, “I couldn’t be more excited to bring this piece to our storefronts, to display this for our customers, staff, and passers-by alike to view. This sculpture is so powerful — and I don’t mean that just because it’s got 100 powerhouse vibrators incorporated into it — but because of the feelings of passion, intimacy and the idea of embracing our pleasure as a form of art that it evokes.”

Dafne Blade’s work, Finn added, “is something truly striking, and I hope that anyone in the Bay Area takes the chance to come and see their piece in person with us.”

The ”Pleasure as Art” piece will be visible in the large window at Good Vibrations’ 899 Mission St. store starting in mid-November through the winter season. The store is open daily from noon until 8 p.m.
