Besharam Funds Sangya Project to Manufacture Pleasure Products in India

NEW DELHI — IMBesharam has funded Indian sextech startup Sangya Project, to manufacture pleasure products in the country.

As of tomorrow, Sangya Project is “the first and only brand to manufacture sex toys in India and will be manufacturing Sangya S6 Strap On, the S6 Dildo, the Omega Series of butt plugs and more,” said a rep.

IMBesharam also announced plans to elevate its manufacturing capabilities and expand the sextech industry in the country, to “turn their dream of ‘Made in India’ vibrators and toys into reality.”

The collaboration with Sangya Project will also involve making sexual wellness more affordable across the country and pushing for better access to sex education and sexual awareness beyond metropolitan areas by developing sextech for Indians.

IMBesharam co-founder and COO Raj Armani said, “We have been espousing ‘Made in India’ pleasure products since 2020. When Sangya Project took the lead in setting up India’s first pleasure products manufacturing unit, we saw it as a right fit to be associated with them.”

The size of the Indian pleasure products market is growing, Armani said.

“Now with pleasure products manufactured in India, Sangya Project will be the game-changing catalyst,” he added.

Founded in 2020 by a queer and poly family, Sangya Project began as a digital platform for educational content and personal stories around sex, sexuality, relationships, cyber safety and mental health. Soon after, the company ventured into the pleasure industry.

Shweta Sangtani, Sangya Projects co-founder and chief business officer, explained that “though the Indian market has immense potential for pleasure products, there has been no manufacturing facility of pleasure products in the country. India has been importing pleasure products, because of which the retail cost increases.”

Sangtani also noted that “another aspect of the imported pleasure products is that they are not made for Indian bodies. Based on the feedback we received from our customers, we decided that it would be more appropriate if these products were made in India, for Indians.”
