Pineapple Support, Chaturbate Launch Competition Celebrating Sex Worker Pride

LOS ANGELES — Pineapple Support and Chaturbate have teamed for a competition, titled "Proud of Who I Am," that celebrates sex worker pride.

The initiative "aims to celebrate sex workers, promote positive self-image and combat stigma faced by members of the industry," noted a rep.

Participants entering the competition should record a video explaining why they are proud of who they are and share it on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #ProudPineapple, tagging Chaturbate on Twitter and Instagram, and Pineapple Support on Twitter and Instagram.

The competition will run from International Sex Workers Day on June 2 until June 30; the winning video will be chosen on July 4 and the winning performer will receive the latest MacBook Pro and a professional webcam.

“Launching this on International Sex Worker Day feels very special,” Pineapple Support founder Leya Tanit. “Thanks to the generosity of Chaturbate, the competition is a chance for performers to share all of the reasons we have to be proud of ourselves, as sex workers, personally, or whatever you’d like. That video you record and share with your community could help to lift someone who might have forgotten about some of the reasons they have to be proud of themselves, too.”

Pineapple Support has connected over 5,000 adult performers and industry members to mental health services, including free and low-cost therapy, counseling and emotional support.

“Chaturbate is pleased to once again team up with Pineapple Support and their mission to support the mental health of the adult community,” Chaturbate COO Shirley Lara said. “And we are especially pleased to support this particular event, as we wholeheartedly agree that every member of the adult community should be proud of themselves, not only for the work they do, but for who they are in all aspects of their lives.”
