PARIS — Dorcel is celebrating the female gaze in adult entertainment with its second annual "Porn Is Also Made by Women" film festival, described as a curated selection of eight features by notable female directors from around the world, streaming online May 9-15.
"In contemporary usage, the female gaze is popularly defined as a feminist theory representing the gaze of the female spectator, character or director of an artistic work. 'Porn Is Also Made by Women' invites viewers to discover the richness of female points-of-view in the porn industry," noted a rep.
This year's featured filmmakers are Kay Brandt ("Sugar & Spice"), Anna Polina ("Second Chance"), Paulita Pappel ("Gang Car Bang"), Anoushka ("Vivante"), Nikita Bellucci ("Never Without You"), Casey Calvert ("Grace"), Liza Del Sierra ("Sex Therapy") and Carmina ("Matinée Perverse").
"The Dorcel Group is delighted to highlight the diversity of this genre of cinema and support talented women directors. Committed feminists, aesthetes or militant filmmakers — many female directors offer a different vision of porn, far removed from the macho clichés that are often attributed to the genre," Dorcel Group Chairman Grégory Dorcel said.
"It seemed important to us to contribute to increasing the awareness of these works and their authors, and we would like to make this commitment permanent by renewing this operation every year,” he added.
The titles will be available for adults to stream for free on Dorcelvision.com.
