'Sex Work Survival Guide' Digital Conference Set for Sunday

LOS ANGELES — The second annual SW Survival Guide digital conference, described as a free daylong career guidance summit, will livestream Sunday, May 1, starting at 7 a.m. (PDT).

The conference is produced by Tiana Peters (aka Glittersaurus Rex), Cendrine Chappuis (aka Dr. Ash Dark ) and Katarina Pierce (aka The Domme Kat).

"Enjoy moderated discussions with sex worker-friendly leaders, keynote speakers and business professionals about digital media, marketing, taxes, law and all other aspects of professional life that affect sex workers," a rep said.

Attendees will also have time to connect and network with conference vendors.

The speaker lineup includes Courtney Trouble ("Optimizing Your Content"), Jet Setting Jasmine ("Creating Multiple Streams of Income"), Sinnamon Love ("Cultivating Longevity in the Industry") and Melissa A. Vitale ("Public Relations without a Publicist").

Additional moderated discussions will cover "Protecting & Monetizing your Brand," "Building Political Power through Culturally Competent Civic Engagement," "Utilizing & Supporting Community," "Sustainable Product Development" and "Doxxing Prevention."

The panel discussion "Know Your Rights" is sponsored by Translatinx Network and Manhattan Alternative collective, with translators from Babilla Collective.

"Our inaugural conference in January 2021 was two days of information and resources to reduce harm by including everything you need to know for your first day on the job," noted the rep. "Keynote speakers and panelists provided knowledge and incited discussion to reduce the risk of injury, death or arrest in our community. And we didn’t get to everything! Since that conference, which 3,000 online guests attended, we started a virtual speaker series, became a registered nonprofit and raised donations for organizations supporting marginalized communities, including our own."

"No one should have to go it alone, and life-saving information shouldn’t be gate-kept. Rather than position ourselves as experts, we work in tandem and collaborate with community members and organizations to ensure that the correct information gets to the people who need it," the rep continued. "All our events are free because survival shouldn't be a luxury."

Sponsors of the 2022 SW Survival Guide digital conference include Chaturbate, Pornhub, ZALO, Pure4Men and DiTa Inc. tax coaching. Donations are being accepted to support the Caribbean Equality Project and SW Survival Guide's complementary programming throughout the year.
