LOS ANGELES — Lustery is observing International Women’s Day with the release of a mini-documentary titled “PornograHERs.”
“Since this year’s International Women's Day is all about ‘breaking the bias,’ we want to celebrate womens' pioneering role in a field that might surprise some people,” a rep said. “We’re dedicating the month of March to porn made by women, celebrating its creativity and diversity.”
The documentary, “PornograHERs,” focuses on the history of porn made by "women, femmes, dykes and nonbinary folk," among them Paulita Pappel, Erika Lust and Shine Louise Houston, performer Jiz Lee and certified sexologist Annie Sprinkle.
"As Annie famously said: 'The answer to bad porn is not no porn, it is to make better porn.' Let's commemorate their achievements together," added the rep.
“That women themselves make porn is still something treated as a novel concept, when the truth is that women have been creating erotic art since as far back as ancient Greece, if not further. We think it’s time they get the attention they deserve,” Lustery Head of Talent Management Natalia Angel said.
