LOS ANGELES — Cherie DeVille's latest column for The Daily Beast focuses on how financial skills can affect one's experience in the adult industry.
The column, titled "Financial Horror Stories From the Porn World (and What They Say About America)," concerns itself with how some people working in the adult industry are more concerned with material goods rather than investment. As self-employed individuals, many neglect to save for taxes. In addition, with a career span in the industry being significantly shorter than other businesses, performers tend to get themselves stuck, in the long run, by not investing and saving wisely.
"While the porn industry operates differently from 'mainstream' businesses, we see the struggles and issues across the board," Deville explained. "I want not only my fellow performers to learn from mistakes, but everyone out there who needs assistance with prioritizing their financial futures."
