BIPOC-AIC Hosts 'Politricks' Talk on Immigration, Reproductive Justice Tonight

LOS ANGELES — The Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Adult Industry Collective (BIPOC-AIC) is hosting the second installment of “Politricks” tonight. Dr. Leandra Hernandez and sex work advocate Maya Morena will discuss "the intersection of reproductive justice, immigration and sex work."

The event will take place tonight at 6 p.m. (PDT).

“Legal disenfranchisement of sex workers includes illegitimate searches for street-based workers, illegitimate raids on strip clubs, sexual harassment and assault of and violence toward sex workers by law enforcement, and even fines for shooting pornography without permits in some cities,” said a rep. “This conversation will serve as an enlightenment for and from BIPOC sex workers and some of our strongest allies to better navigate present-day politics just in time for Election Day.”

Morena said, “It’s essential that we understand why the empire needs to control and exclude (people) based on sex, through borders, policing and laws.”

"Clear and Coherent Information"

The rep added that “through providing clear and coherent information, the speakers will provide their insights about what is happening on the floors of U.S. courtrooms, Congress and the White House, and the real-life impact of legislation related to sex work.”

“Panelists will bridge the gap of the BIPOC sex industry community’s understanding of the political landscape to prepare them for the upcoming election cycle better as we enter one of the most meaningful, historical elections that our country has ever faced,” the rep continued.

Hernandez explained that “this topic is needed now more than ever because of how it impacts our lives so closely. Who we vote for impacts our reproductive freedoms tremendously.”

Speakers are subject to change due to availability. Tickets for the donation-based event can be found on Eventbrite.

In related news, BIPOC-AIC will soon open its November microgrant application period. Applicants in need of assistance in completing their online application should email info@bipoc-collective.org to be paired with someone who can help.
