San Francisco PornFilmFestival Unveils Official Selections

SAN FRANCISCO — Pink and White Productions has unveiled the official slate of films to screen — virtually — during the 2020 San Francisco PornFilmFestival exclusively on the PinkLabel.tv platform from August 20 to 22.

Over 250 titles from two-dozen countries were submitted, resulting in a program of 90 films as well as post-screening Q&As and director and filmmaker virtual meet-and-greets.

“We had a luxury problem,” Festival Director Shine Louise Houston explained. “We ended up adding an extra day of programs and two weeks of special pre-show presentations.”

The mockumentary "The Sad Girls of the Mountains" will open the fest on Thursday, August 20, to be preceded by the documentary short "Smut Capital of America" that recounts San Francisco's history as the epicenter of adult 50 years ago.

The closing feature is "Volunteers Wanted: or, How to Live, Love and Fuck at the Berlin PornFilmFest," described as a love letter to the culture of adult film festivals and a nod to the event from which the San Francisco festival drew its name and inspiration.

"Volunteers Wanted" will be preceded by "Mes Chéris," described as a docu-porn collaboration starring Black trans male adult performer Bat Boi.

Several guest-curated programs will include Latin American shorts curated by Brazilian filmmaker and scholar Érica Sarmet with selections from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico, and a United Kingdom program curated by Max Disgrace from the London PornFilmFestival with titles ranging from the 1990s through the present day.

"Three curated short film programs focus on humor, experimentation and beauty as depicted within independent adult film," explained a festival rep. "Unsurprisingly, many films address topics of sheltering-in-place amidst COVID-19. Widely represented are films by and showcasing people whose bodies and desires are not often depicted in commercial pornography, including filmmakers of color, disability and older performers. The films originate from two dozen countries, in addition to several films by creators in the San Francisco Bay Area."

Tickets will be available beginning August 6, when two weeks of "pre-show" titles will begin streaming. After the live festival run from August 20 to 22, a selection of highlights will stream August 23.
