ATHENS — PinkLabel.tv will stream a curated menu of short subjects originally scheduled to play the postponed Athens Porn Film Festival. Five titles will be available for just 48 hours this weekend only, May 22-24.
Prior to coronavirus "stay-at-home" orders, over 85 films from around the world had been scheduled for Satyrs and Maenads: The Athens Porn Film Festival. When the event was forced to postpone, Menelas, the festival's director, quickly teamed with PinkLabel.tv to present a special Greek Porn Shorts screening on the video-on-demand platform.
"The festival wanted to bring the world of artistic porn to Athens, where its main goal is not only sexual arousal," said Menelas. "Porn can inform, entertain and educate. It can expand issues such as gender, sexuality and our personal identity. It can raise awareness, and be political, and of course, be fun."
“Since the Greek government [will] not subsidize artists and sex workers in these difficult times, we decided to give 10% of the profits to each film and 50% to Red Umbrella Athens,” Menelas said.
The partnership with PinkLabel.tv is an opportunity to introduce "an emerging Greek independent porn community," a rep explained, to a worldwide audience.
Five films from Greece and Cyprus, including two world premieres, and the first BDSM film from Cyprus, are on the program which runs approximately 62 minutes. The titles will be available with Greek and English subtitles and hosted by presenter Melita Scabeau.
Themes and scenarios include "a very useful online tutorial, sunsets full of BDSM, a soap opera trip to the world of clitoris, magic orgies in caves and a comedy porn parody. In short, all the flavors of Greek art-porn!" enthused the rep.
