TOKYO — Indie performer and kink filmmaker Axel Abysse, the self-billed "poet of pornography," is tub-thumping oceanside fetish fantasy "The Shore," which he toplines with Asher Hattori. The title debuts as a digital download today.
Abysse describes the "lush and beautiful update" as "a fisting tale under the burning sun of Okinawa, where a lifeguard rescues a stranded merman from the abyss."
The videography is by the filmmaker's partner, Kosmic Sans, with an original score by 3PM.
"Water is my element. I’m from the sea, the sea is home, I can never leave it too long or I lose myself," enthused Abysse. "The merman is an analogue of myself." However, he notes, "seawater, sand and wind are the worst combo for both filming equipment and fisting. We had to wait for the sun, but when it showed up, it was so strong my skin started to burn. I’m whiter-than-white and have to bathe in sunscreen every 15 minutes to survive."
"The Shore" is the first cinematography credit for Kosmic Sans with Abysse Productions.
"I'm excited to be part of a project that’s taking extreme porn out of its box, far from stereotypes, giving space for more intimacy and authentic beauty," he said.
Composer 3PM shared Sans' enthusiasm. "The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful location and cinematography. With a fetish film it can be difficult to find the right tone for the music to fit. Not gritty or intense, this scene was about beauty and connection. Once I was able to lock in on that, the music came naturally."
