'Girls on Porn' Podcast Co-Hosts Spread the 'Pay for Your Porn' Gospel

DENVER — The co-hosts of "Girls On Porn," Laura Ramadei and Rachel Napoleon, were featured by Colorado alt-weekly Westword in a discussion about how their podcast informs listeners about "good porn, bad porn and what can make porn more ethical."

The article, written by Lauren Archuleta, explains how the New York-based Ramadei, a performer and producer, and Napoleon, an actress, "want their listeners to watch more ethical porn — and that sometimes means paying for it."

“We wanted to be funny, but we had a different intent behind it," Ramadei, who emphasized that they are not sexperts but “sex enthusiasts," she told Westword. The podcast aims to "point people toward a more-ethical platform, and hopefully that encourages people to pay for their porn."

Co-host Napoleon added that "she didn’t know much about ethical porn until she sat down and considered purchasing a subscription."

Like many, Napoleon had always thought porn was free, but then she “found things I liked and realized I had to pay for it, I was like, yeah, well, that makes sense. I mean, I’m an actress, and I think performers should be paid. I want to support the art I like and support the performers I like, too. Sex work is work, and no one likes to work for free.”

The article explains the pair has championed adult industry studios and filmmakers like Bellesa and Erika Lust, which they think can help listeners "recognize what consensual porn looks like, and, in turn, normalizing sex work, too."
