LOS ANGELES — Director Ivan has announced the launch of his podcast, “Slivan,” named after a portmanteau of his legal name — Slava — and the name he has been using in the adult industry.
"With recent hospitalization and heading into his ninth surgery on his leg, Ivan has decided to start his new venture from his hospital bed," said a rep. Ivan's surgery is scheduled for today and this afternoon, the director will be "behind the mic and in front of a camera for his first episode of his podcast."
Ivan, who is inviting people to reach out to him to appear on his podcast, commented on the unusual format.
“My almost 50 years on this planet has taken me from Mother Russia during the Cold War to the land of opportunity," he said. "These opportunities led me to my film school education, my filmmaking career and the crazy life of being a porn director, from the insane 'money falling from the sky' days to 'holy shit — where did it all go?'"
"Sometimes I would sit back and wonder how did a nice Russian Jewish boy wound up in this whirlwind of Tarantino-esque life moments," Ivan added. "I can’t wait to share these stories. I believe what I offer in storytelling will not be the typical conversation so many try to fill their airtime with."
After a career in indie horror, Ivan worked with Extreme Associates, Anabolic Digital and later co-founded the Puba network. He is also Creative Director for AltErotic.
Ivan also runs YouTube channel Slivan TV, which boasts over 51,000 subscribers.
