Bellesa Spotlights Noted Director Angie Rowntree

LOS ANGELES — Bellesa.co has published an in-depth interview with renowned porn director and founder of Sssh.com Angie Rowntree.

The eye-opening interview takes a deep dive into Rowntree’s artistic motivations and ethical concerns as one of the industry’s first and foremost female pornographers.

“I’ve been watching Bellesa develop as a brand for a while now,” Rowntree said of the website which specializes in porn for women. “I’m very impressed with the thoughtful, artistic approach they’ve been taking.”

In the interview, Rowntree discusses whether porn bears a moral responsibility to educate its viewers, particularly now that young adults can easily access porn sites via the internet.

“Put simply, porn is entertainment, not education,” Rowntree said, and added that filmmakers need to make an effort to “communicate to the viewer that consent is crucial and fundamental, whether the sex in question takes place on camera or in private.”

“Angie is a true pioneer and one who has paved the way for [female-produced] adult content — as well as for the women who create it,” Bellesa CEO Michelle Shnaidman said.

Rowntree started Sssh.com more than 20 years ago, making her one of the first adult directors to create films with female values. Today, she is happy to see that women viewers are now a sought-after audience.

“Everyone told me at the time [I started Sssh.com] that it would never work and that women had no interest in watching porn no matter who was making it, and they certainly would never pay for it,” Rowntree said. “Twenty years later, Sssh.com is still growing and attracting new fans every day.”
