Whitney Wright Toplines Shawn Alff's Directorial Debut for Sweet Sinner

MONTREAL — “Passion and crime collide” in Sweet Sinner’s erotic crime drama “What We Do For Money” starring Gianna Dior and Whitney Wright. It marks the directorial debut of Shawn Alff.

Alff, who also wrote the script, is a well-regarded production manager and nonsex performer. For this project, he swapped roles with filmmaker Jacky St. James, who served as his production manager and mentor.

Silvia Saige and male talent Nathan Bronson, Tommy Gunn, Marcus London and Zac Wild fill out the cast. The film begins with “a gunrunner who dies in his mistress’s arms, leaving her with a bag of money and a decision. Desperation and greed lure her into an underworld of crime where her boyfriend, the police and a mysterious collector pursue her,” a rep said.

Jon Blitt, VP of Sweet Sinner’s parent company Mile High Media, praised Alff’s debut. “With the star-packed cast and his well crafted script, Shawn brings to life a compelling erotic thriller that will captivate viewers,” he said.

Alff admits to trepidation about stepping behind the camera for the first time. “When I learned Mile High was trusting me with a project of this magnitude for my first film, I felt like I was getting away with fraud,” Alff said. “I spent the last year working under the most effective, story-driven director in the business — Jacky St. James — and stealing her best ideas. From her, I learned the secret to directing: hire the best people and give them the freedom to create. This film reflects that ethos. I booked professionals who are more talented than me in every department and trusted them to make me look good. They did not disappoint.”

He enthused about his starry cast. “I couldn't have landed a better lead in Whitney Wright. She showed up to set completely in character with all of her lines memorized, and it goes without saying that her sex scenes always deliver,” he said. “Silvia, Tommy, Marcus, Zac, Gianna, and Nathan all brought their characters to life. Their performances were so convincing that I kept forgetting I wrote their lines. I am so honored to have such a great cast and crew on this career-first for me.”
