LOS ANGELES — The Adult Performers Advocacy Committee (APAC) has announced that their July members’ meeting will include a “Porn and Parenting” seminar, presented by King Noire and Jet Setting Jasmine.
“As adult performers, educators, and parents, King Noire and Jet Setting Jasmine are in a unique position to provide wisdom and guidance on the challenges posed by balancing adult film work with family life,” said an APAC rep. “No matter what age your children are, parenting can make sex seem like one of the more dispensable tasks on your to-do list.”
APAC invites adult performers to join “sex-positive parents” Jet Setting Jasmine and King Noire as they share their experiences regarding both talking about sex and maintaining intimacy in a household with children.
The seminar will also cover how to safeguard children from sexually inappropriate situations.
“Pornography is a tough issue for most parents to tackle, regardless of what they do for a living. For parents who work in the adult industry, the issue can be much more complex,” said APAC Board of Directors Secretary Siouxsie Q. “I am ecstatic to host Jet Setting Jasmine and King Noire at this month’s free seminar on Porn and Parenting — I am such a fan of both of them.”
Siouxsie Q explained that many of APAC’s members are parents and added that the advocacy group “wanted to be able to provide this resource to the community so they feel as prepared as possible when dealing with the cruel stigma that sex-working parents often face.”
“We are a community, and we want those folks who do sex work to support their families to know that we are here to support them too,” she concluded, reminding members that the group also offers free mental health services with a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist to all members. APAC encourages anyone who is struggling with the pressures of parenting while also existing in the public eye as sex worker, to utilize this service whenever they need.
The July 7 seminar is described as “Sex-Ed all over again, but this time for adults with children or those who work with children,” and also as a great way to get tips on approaching these topics in ways that do not create an environment of shame and stigma.
"Age-appropriate conversations should take place from the moment your child can communicate,” said Jet Setting Jasmine. "Consent is a conversation that we should start having at an early age,” adds King Noire.
This seminar is free to anyone in the adult industry who would like to attend, whether you have children or plan to have them in the future.
