Eldorado Makes Annual Thanksgiving Food, Money Donation

BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Eldorado Trading Company coordinated its annual Thanksgiving fundraising campaign to collect food and money donations for the Community Food Share, a local Colorado nonprofit that provides food to hundreds of local families and senior citizens in need.

Through the guidance of a food share committee, Eldorado employees collected more than $2,000 and approximately 400 pounds of food in their yearly effort to support the charity’s mission to eliminate hunger. Since every dollar donated provides three meals and every pound of food equals one meal donated, Eldorado’s various initiatives delivered a total of 6,400 meals to help feed the hungry and food insecure. According to the company, one in eight Americans are food insecure, meaning they lack consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members.

Eldorado collected food donations both in the office and at numerous local businesses. Employees also hosted multiple on-site events, like a bake sale, chili cook-off, a snack-vending cart, and a sample merchandise sale in order to raise funds.

Laurie Fehler, Eldorado human resource manager and chair of the Food Share Committee, said that she is proud of how well the Eldorado employees worked together to address the needs in the local community.

“It’s wonderful how much enthusiasm everyone has as they rally together to support an incredible organization like the Community Food Share,” Fehler said.

This is Eldorado’s 10th year coordinating donations to the Community Food Share, a bittersweet milestone for the company.

Eldorado CEO Wanda Garland said, “This company-wide effort was started by Eldorado founder, Larry Garland over a decade ago. We are thrilled to continue his tradition of community philanthropy.”
