Dr. Mercies said his new "Anal Hell" release had “personal spiritual and artistic significance.”

Dr. Mercies noted that for "Anal Hell" he was inspired by the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch after an artist friend told him they reminded her of Assylum.
“Bosch’s depictions of hell are filled with sodomy and anal torture, and it’s often hard to determine who’s having a good time versus a bad one,” Dr. Mercies said. “In a way, Bosch’s triptychs resound with the paradoxes of BDSM. So, I wanted to explore this hell with Anastasia and Charlotte. I wanted to explore surreal, twisted, torturous anal scenarios for the release-through-suffering they can offer.”
At the same time Dr. Mercies said he’s long been haunted by the description of hell in Dante’s "Inferno."
“Dante’s hell is more unforgivingly punishing of lust,” he said. “I was doing mental battle with his version, I think, in this scene. I wanted Anastasia’s submission to make hell beautiful — to carry me away and silence the disapproving voices of Dante and others — and reverse the curse of lust I have feared off and on throughout my life. It was such an incredible privilege going on this journey with these two gorgeous, kind, brave, sincere, and self-aware women. The results are just precious.”
For the performers, the session had personal value as well.
