Blake Mitchell, Helix Studios Kick Off Book Tour

Blake Mitchell, Helix Studios Kick Off Book Tour

LAS VEGAS — Helix Studios headliner Blake Mitchell has embarked on a book tour to promote “His Own Way Out,” a non-erotic young adult novel based on his onscreen persona and real-life experiences and written with his input.

Taylor Saracen, who has written scripts for Helix, including the recent vignette “Mine” featuring Mitchell and Joey Mills, penned the tome.

The duo kicked off their tour at a Barnes & Noble on July 22 in Henderson, Nev.

The next stops include Barnes & Noble outlets on Saturday, July 28, in Tempe, Ariz., and Sunday, July 29 in Tucson, Ariz.

Helix Studios' Keith Miller told XBIZ the kickoff event was “greatly successful” and led to increased orders for the book at forthcoming stops on the tour.

Saracen approached Miller via Twitter with “a wonderful concept,” he said. “She thought there would be no better way to build a series [of books] than around a group of people who stayed constant and stayed together over time. And had a big social media following. That brought her to us.”

Miller said he is continually searching for ways to market his stable of performers outside of the adult industry space.

He was looking for someone to “tell their stories of heartache and breakups and growth from their childhood.”

“These are not erotic novels, not porn,” he notes. “These are gay coming-of-age novels using stories the models tell Taylor and she writes them into books. It's a pretty great read."

Next month, Mitchell and Saracen will appear together at City Lit Books in Chicago on Aug. 4; Barnes & Noble in Madison, Wis., on August 5; Barnes & Noble Mira Mesa and Manfest adult emporium in San Diego on Aug. 18; and BookMonster in Santa Monica, Calif., on Aug. 19.

Miller revealed the second installment in the series, based on the experiences of Kyle Ross, is set for publication Oct. 21.
