LOS ANGELES — Colin Burn, an Australian jewelry artist and silversmith, is on the road in the U.S. looking for a gallery owner who’ll display his latest collection of erotic products.
Burn is checking out galleries in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami and New York, seeking space that will house his newest exhibit that will aptly be named “olisbos,” or Greek for “dildo.”
His flagship product he wants to show off and sell? A $1 million vibrator called the Pearl Royale.
“My inspiration was to create something that shows the value people place on sex,” Burn told the New York Post. “[People] spend lots of money for the experiences of owning Maseratis and the like.”
Burn has been creating high-end sex toys for 15 years, including a gold egg-shaped vibrator that sold for $25,000, a white-and-gold dildo that sold for $38,000 and a gold-handled whip made of human hair that sold for $19,000.
The Pearl Royale vibe, Burn said, weighs one pound and runs on two hand-engineered motors. The vibe’s platinum body is covered with 2,000 diamonds, some royal-blue sapphires and pink diamonds. The user twists a platinum key to start it up.
“The prototype has been tried and it works exceptionally well,” he told the Post. “The real one is in a vault. We don’t want to soil it.”
