After Serious Accident, GoFundMe Campaign Created for Jimmy Durano

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — A GoFundMe campaign to help ease medical expenses has been started up for longtime gay adult star Jimmy Durano, who recently suffered head injuries in a serious accident that required a craniotomy.

With the brain surgery, complications followed, including an infection. Durano is expected to continue recovery after he leaves a Palm Springs hospital after another surgery that will replace his skull.

The Brazilian-born Durano began his porn career eight years ago after working as a graphic designer by day and go-go dancer at night. He’s shot scenes for the bulk of all gay adult studios, including Channel 1 Releasing, Titan Media, All Worlds, Men.com, Hot House Entertainment, Raging Stallion Studios and Falcon Studios Group. In 2013, he received Performer of the Year at the Grabby Awards.

Durano is married to Christian Owen, a former adult performer who became a producer and director for Hot House.

His friend Larry Mendelson started up the GoFundMe account that seeks $15,000.

“With the multiple surgeries we hope he will be able to work in the future, but for now, he will be laid up for a very long time and the future is unknown,” Mendelson wrote on GoFundMe. “It is expected he will be in recovery for at least an additional six months to a year after he is released from the hospital following this second surgery, and will require at least one more surgery and recovery period after that when they replace his skull.

“He will not be able do any of the work he loves so much: dancing, personal appearances, scenes shoots, graphic design. While out of work the medical bills and living expenses are not stopping, nor will they during the additional surgery and hospital stay. It's not in Jimmy's optimistic nature to worry, but this time he is scared of what the future could look like.

“Therefore, he really needs our support to get through these hard times. Anything you might be able to contribute will help alleviate this financial crisis, and give him some piece of mind.”
