Seymore Butts Plans New TV Show, Book

LOS ANGELES — Mainstream crossover star Adam Glasser, aka Seymore Butts, has two new projects in development that will make him even more of a household name — a new reality TV show about his adult talent agency and a book that will function as a primer for people looking to enter the adult entertainment business.

Glasser achieved national mainstream recognition as the star of Showtime’s late-night series “Family Business,” which ran for four seasons. The show depicted Glasser as he ran his adult production studio along with the help of his family members, Cousin Stevie and mom, Lila.

The first of Glasser’s ambitious projects is a new, reality-style TV show that will be based on the day-to-day workings of his adult talent agency, Lighthouse Talent. Glasser told XBIZ that the show would chronicle his employees in everyday situations “as normal people who have slightly unusual jobs.” He described it as an adult version of “Odd Jobs.”

The show is tentatively titled “Agents of Love.” Glasser contracted a mainstream production company to start filming, and the pilot episode of the show is in the final editing stages.

“The purpose of this show is to give people a different perspective on our business,” Glasser said. “Normal, everyday people are involved in many different aspects of the adult business. I want to show that jobs in adult are no different from any other walk of life. The show will be an honest portrayal of what Lighthouse Talent agents go through. It’s a slice of life.

“Any actual titillation will be peripheral. The show will examine the lives of the agents’ obligations and its effect on their lives. We shot a lot of great content and I’m very happy with the footage we’ve gotten — it really looks good. The agents had a great time shooting it, and of course, the girls we represent loved it.”

Glasser said that his role on the show will be like Charlie in “Charlie’s Angels” — he’ll step in as needed, but won’t be too hands on. Glasser’s goal is for the show to air on a basic cable network like VH1, Spike, Bravo, FX or A&E.

The second of Glasser’s mainstream ventures is a book that explains the ins and outs of the adult business to prospective performers, directors, producers and even lighting technicians and makeup artists. He intends for the book to function as a primer on the adult industry.

After parting ways with his original writing partner, Glasser has been working with Keith and Kent Zimmerman for about nine months. The Zimmermans are best known for co-authoring “Hell's Angel: The Life and Times of Sonny Barger and the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club.”

The working title of the book is “Welcome to the Jungle: A Complete Guide to Making It In the Adult Entertainment Industry.”

“I created this book as a means to answer questions I received from hundreds of people about how to break into the adult business,” Glasser said. “This book will answer all the interesting and pertinent questions I’ve fielded from people contemplating getting involved in adult entertainment. I’m going to present it in a funky, nonconventional way. The outline of the book is complete and I’m working with my partners on a formal proposal that’s due June 30. I have a literary agent that will be shopping it to publishers.”

Included in the book will be chapters on legal issues, advice for amateur filmmakers, information resources, how to select talent, the future of adult entertainment, ancillary revenue streams and even personal advice on how to handle being a parent in the adult business.

“I’ve invested a lot of myself into this book,” Glasser said. “I get asked for advice all the time, so I wanted to devote my energies into what is slowly becoming an all-encompassing resource for anyone looking to enter the adult field. It’s going to be written from my perspective and my experiences in the business.”
