S.F. Armory Sells for $65 Million

SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco's Armory, the former home of Kink.com, has been sold for $65 million, the San Francisco Business Times reported.

Kink.com CEO Peter Acworth paid $14.5 million for the 200,000-square-foot Armory in 2006.

The fetish-centric company has owned the building since 2007, though it stopped porn production there last year. The building was constructed in 1914 as an armory and arsenal for the U.S. National Guard.

Once the National Guard vacated the property, several spaceship-interior scenes in the "Star Wars" movie "The Empire Strikes Back" were filmed there.

The new owner, the Times said, is Soho House, a “hyper-elite global chain" of nightclubs.
