Jessica Drake to Present CatalystCon's Closing Keynote Speech

LOS ANGELES — Jessica Drake will be the featured keynote speaker at CatalystCon’s closing panel, and will also serve as panelist, sponsor and host during the three day event.

CatalystCon will be held Sept. 15-17 at The Westin Los Angeles Airport, 5400 W. Century Blvd, Los Angeles, Calif., 90045.

Drake will present the keynote speech as part of the Closing Keynote Plenary Address on “Sex, Politics and Resistance: Activism for Everyone,” from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. this Sunday in the Grand Ballroom. The closing segment will include fellow keynote speakers Dr. Hernando Chaves, Jackie Rednour-Bruckman and Mo Beasley.

“I am honored to have been asked to participate in the closing keynote, and to be able to contribute to the conversations started at CatalystCon,” Drake said. “With voices of intolerance cluttering the national political climate, it’s especially important we come together in support of sex workers, the LGBTQ community and human rights.”

In addition to her keynote speech, Drake will serve as a presenter at the Sex Worker Summit at 2 p.m., held today. The discussion will focus on important issues facing sex workers, such as activism, resistance, self-care, the oppression of black women and more.

On Friday, Drake will host and sponsor the Sex Worker MeetUp from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. The private event invites current and past sex workers as a precursor to the CatalystCon Opening Reception. For more details about the meetup, including location, e-mail info@catalystcon.com.

On Saturday, Drake will participate on the panel “Beautism and Status: How Stereotypes Influence Leadership, and Limit Choices ... Recognizing Patterns and Reclaiming Power,” from 3 to 4:10 p.m. The panel will focus how people perceive influence and power, how we’re able to get people’s attention in ethical ways, and how societal definitions of beauty can sway perceptions.
