CLEARWATER, Fla. — Winners of the annual Adult Nightclub and Exotic Dancer Awards — The ED's — have been announced.
Top awards went to Angela Sommers, who took home the Overall Entertainer of the Year Award; the Penthouse Club in Baton Rouge, La., which was honored with the Overall Gentlemen’s Club of the Year Award; and Rick’s Cabaret/RCI Hospitality, which earned the Club Chain of the Year Award.
The annual awards program, now in its 20th year, was held in conjunction with the Gentlemen’s Club Expo, which celebrated its 25-year anniversary.
The expo, held Aug. 27-30, offered three days of educational seminars, booths and special events at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The show is produced by ED Publications.
“While we at ED Publications certainly appreciate the pats on the back for 25 years of the expo, I think we’re even more proud of the fact that we produced a convention that lived up to the expectations surrounding a silver anniversary,” said Dave Manack, ED Publications’ associate publisher.
The expo included a bikini contest, presented by Platinum 84 in Denver and co-sponsored by Associated Agencies. The contest included 75 women from across the U.S. and from as far away as Australia and New Zealand who competed in the event hosted at the Rehab Pool at the Hard Rock.
Aja Marie, an entertainer from the Penthouse Club in New Orleans, took home first place and $3,000 in cash, while her “home” club received $3,000 in advertising with ED Publications.
Seminars addressed the future of the adult club industry, with subjects like social media marketing, crisis management, building relationships with law enforcement and other city officials and a keynote address from motivational speaker Dan Lier on how club owners and operators can more effectively reach the millennial and centennial generations.
