SexZ Pictures Acquires SexZ.Com URL

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — SexZ Pictures has obtained ownership of the web address SexZ.com in a deal reportedly in excess of $100,000.

SexZ Pictures CEO Bo Kenney had been in discussions with the owner of the URL off and on for a number of months. The deal was negotiated recently after the owner called Kenney at SexZ Pictures' Manassas, Va., headquarters to tell Kenney that he was ready to sell.

Kenney said it was worth every penny to acquire the one-word company site. “We’ve been located at SexZPictures.com for our first few years in the business. We always wanted to have a one-word domain to represent our brand so it was hard to pass up this deal."

"As SexZ Pictures expands and grows into more mobile and hand-held delivery formats, it's just going to be easier for fans to remember the shorter web address. People don't always remember SexZPictures.com. It's just too long," SexZ Pictures press representative Jeff Mullen told XBIZ.

Mullen also predicted new options for SexZ.com users within six months. "It's difficult to keep people coming back. Typically, new releases were the schtick we used to get return visits, but as we expand into an on-demand society, SexZ.com will be at the head of the pack."

Mullen added that despite SexZ's focus on new media, Kenney plans to continue supporting brick-and-mortar stores.

The new web address got nationwide exposure Monday morning when SexZ Pictures contract performer Hillary Scott mentioned it during her appearance on the Howard Stern show on Sirius satellite radio.
