Maxine Lynn to Present Legal Update at QWEBEC Expo

MONTREAL — Attorney Maxine Lynn announced that she will be presenting a legal update seminar at QWEBEC Expo.

On Saturday at 11:30 a.m., Lynn will speak at the seminar titled “Legal Developments of 2017 in a Nutshell.”

Lynn is an attorney with the law firm of Keohane & D’Alessandro PLLC, which has offices in Chicago and Albany, N.Y. She also is an inventor and publisher of Unzipped Media Inc., which offers a blog, bulletin and podcast on the field of "sex tech."

“The year 2017 has brought many changes in the laws affecting the adult industry,” Lynn said. “In the U.S., the ban on registering disparaging names has been held unconstitutional, potentially paving the way for players in the adult industry to be able to register trademarks for sexual or otherwise ‘offensive’ marks.”

“Also in the U.S., nonpracticing entities, or patent trolls, must now bring cases against defendants in the defendants’ state of incorporation only,” she said. “This will prevent more cases like the teledildonics patent litigation, where companies from all over the country were sued in a venue to which they had little connection. Hear about this news and more!”

Register here for the QWEBEC Expo, which runs Thursday through Sunday.
