NEW YORK — Brooklyn-based adult boutique and event space SHAG: A Sexy Shop will be showcasing products from local businesses and promoting its new online store at Sex Expo New York 2017, presented by Chaturbate and set for Sept. 23-24 at the Brooklyn Expo Center.
“We will be focusing on hand-crafted, locally designed and/or made products and will have many things from our shop available at Sex Expo NY,” said Samantha Bard, co-owner of SHAG. “(We will be showcasing products) manufactured by local companies such as the New York Toy Collective and Dame Products as well as other sexy, locally made products such as restraints, floggers, glass toys, massage oils, harnesses, body jewelry, pasties and original erotic art. We will also be showcasing our soon-to-be-launched private label products: hand-made scented candles for the home and awesome massage candles for the body.”
Founded in 2009 and located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, SHAG sells a wide range of pleasure products and features an event space for erotic art exhibits, classes, workshops and other activities. And SHAG, after eight years as a brick-and-mortar retailer, will be expanding into e-commerce in the near future by launching an online store.
“We are a Brooklyn-born and bred sexy shop, located in Williamsburg not far from the Sex Expo’s location,” Bard said. “This is a great opportunity for us to target the prime demographic of our very own neighborhood and drive customers directly to our shop. We will also be launching our brand new e-commerce site shortly before Sex Expo; so, that will give us a chance to showcase our new site and drive traffic to our online store — which is going to be rad. We are super excited to be a part of Sex Expo NY, hosted in our very own back yard.”
Sex Expo New York 2017 will feature showcases and product demonstrations from top manufacturers of pleasure products and sex toys. And The Pleasure Chest, serving as official sex education sponsor, will present workshops on a wide array of topics.
Bard said that Sex Expo’s educational mission makes SHAG a perfect fit for the event. SHAG, she said, “hosts several gallery exhibitions each year, featuring a wide range of painters, photographers and sculptors — all with an erotic motif. We offer cutting-edge workshops, art-related classes and events that are interactive and encourage sexual exploration in a safe place.”
