Men.com Video Causes Stir Over Use of Didgeridoo

MELBOURNE — Gay porn site Men.com has caused a stir in Australia after it released a scene this month titled “Didgeridoo Me,” which features a performer penetrating another with a five-foot didgeridoo.

The didgeridoo, considered to be one of the oldest musical instruments, is one of the most recognizable symbols of Aboriginal Australian culture. It has been used in storytelling and ceremonies for an estimated 40,000 years.

In the scene, one performer (Aspen) is awakened by another (Jack Hunter) loudly playing the instrument. After being awakened, the man gets his revenge — by trying to penetrate his friend with the didgeridoo.

Australia’s Star Observer reported that the video was branded “incredibly disrespectful to the Australian Aboriginal communities.”

One commenter said: “This is incredibly racist and culturally offensive … don’t laugh, get angry.”

An Australian-themed restaurant in Virginia, according to the Star Observer, also came under scrutiny last week for using a didgeridoo as a device to serve shots of alcohol.
