PornHub: VR on a Skyward Trajectory

BURBANK, Calif. — Virtual reality porn is on a skyward trajectory, according to PornHub, which today revealed some key numbers about how well the format is doing on its site.

PornHub was the first adult tube site in March 2016 to include a VR category to feature immersive adult content. The MindGeek-operated site started with 30 VR videos but now has more than 2,600.

Today, the adult tube site disclosed that VR videos are watched 500,000 times every day.

PornHub said that users with VR headsets typically watch 11 videos with each visit — two more than non-VR users.

As for demographics, men are 160 percent more likely to use VR headsets when watching porn than women and those 25-34 use VR porn 47 percent more than any other age group, Pornhub said.

California has the most VR video porn views each day, while the fastest growth is in eastern states including New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island and New Jersey, PornHub said.

The adult tube site said that on Christmas day VR porn videos were watched three times more than average, likely because some of the headsets were gifts and new to users.
