Melbourne's California Club Offers Discount for AFL Players, Fans

MELBOURNE — Sexpo has announced that the California Club, the only legal brothel in Melbourne’s St. Kilda suburb, is offering soccer stars and their fans a discount in honor of the Australian Football League’s (AFL) Grand Final Week.

“The AFL football Grand Final week is here, and we’ll be rooting for both teams,” said Kevin James, general manager for the California Club. “Not only have we decorated Melbourne’s largest legal bordello in the colors of the two competing teams — we will also be offering significant discounts to members of either club, those attending the game, and fans in general.”

According to Sexpo, a $50 discount will be offered to anyone who has a Grand Final ticket, a Western Bulldogs or Sydney Swans membership ticket or any Western Bulldogs or Swans scarf, beanie or other merchandise that the client is prepared to leave behind.

“This would see the price of a 30-minute booking, during a day shift, at just $90,” James said. “We will extend this offer until midnight Sunday night so that players from the big match will have the opportunity to take advantage of this unique offer.”

The California Club is located at 30 St. Kilda Rd., St. Kilda, Victoria 3182 about six kilometers/3.85 miles from Melbourne's central business district. On public transportation, the California Club is accessible via the 246 Bus.

James said, “We have rostered on extra staff to deal with the influx of visitors from NSW and the western suburbs.”

In the Australian state of Victoria, brothels and escort agencies operate legally if granted a license and government-approved Sex Work Act (SWA) number. Sole operators can legally work in pairs and are exempt, subject to approval, from many of the licensing requirements and fees that legal brothels and escort agencies are subject to in Victoria.

Sexpo organizes major adult entertainment conventions in Australia as well as South Africa. Sexpo's next Melbourne convention will take place Nov. 24-27 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
