Good Vibrations Launches Book Club on Goodreads

SAN FRANCISCO — Sex toy/pleasure products retailer Good Vibrations has launched a digital book club this month on the online free library Goodreads

To help celebrate the launch of the Good Vibrations Book Club, Good Vibrations chose to feature author Jenny Block and her book, “The Ultimate Guide to Solo Sex.” On Oct. 6, a live online Ask the Author event featuring Block will take place online.

“Books and education,” a spokesperson said, “have always been an integral part and the cornerstone of the Good Vibrations brand. Several months ago, Good Vibrations released their own all-encompassing book, ‘The Sex & Pleasure Book,’ by staff sexologist Carol Queen with Shar Rednour.”

Block’s book launch party was held in one of Good Vibrations’ brick-and-mortar stores, coinciding with International Masturbation Month. The launch is featured in this video.

“I could not have been any more excited when Good Vibrations asked to have ‘The Ultimate Guide to Solo Sex’ as their very first book club selection,” Block said. “Masturbation is every woman's right and responsibility. I look forward to a great conversation with ‘Solo Sex’ readers and ‘Solo Sex’ readers-to-be who want to talk about the inextricable connection between women's sexuality and their empowerment."

Queen said, “At Good Vibrations, we’ve known from the very beginning that authors’ work is a crucial part of sex-positive community, so we’ve always carried — and, for many years, published — carefully-chosen books to inform, inspire, and help people feel more visible."

The Good Vibrations chain includes eight stores altogether, ranging from their Northern California stores to their store in Brookline, Mass.
