Forbes Profiles ANME Founders

BURBANK, Calif. — Forbes.com has published the article “Adult Expo Founders Talk $15B Sex Toy Industry After 20 Years in the Fray” profiling the founders of the ANME Show, which was held July 17-19 at the Marriott Burbank Airport hotel in Burbank, Calif.

In the article, penned by Janet Burns, CalExotics founder and CEO Susan Colvin, Doc Johnson COO Chad Braverman and Pipedream Products CEO and chairman Nick Orlandino answer questions regarding the evolution and financial growth of the sex toy industry over the past several decades.

In the article, Forbes recognizes the international appeal of the Adult Novelty Manufacturers Expo, which was established 20 years ago.

“Today, the internationally attended event boasts an elongated list of exhibitors representing all the latest in sexy toys and tech from old-hand brands like Lovehoney and fresh-faced companies like female-focused OhMiBod. And according to the event’s founders, the industry’s customer base and bottom line are both going strong.”

According to Colvin, the pleasure products currently “stand as a $15 billion market segment with projections that it will surpass $50 billion by 2020.”

Regarding the tech advancements that have been key to the industry’s success, Braverman said “I can confidently say that the most important development for the pleasure product industry has been the expanded use of the internet. You can browse thousands of sex toys without leaving your house, and rest assured that your sex life will remain as private as you want it.”
