TEA Adds Best Female Non-TS Performer Category

LOS ANGELES — Organizers of the Transgender Erotica Awards have announced the addition of a new category this year — Best Female Non-TS Performer.

The TEAs, now in its eighth year, celebrates the accomplishments of the trans adult industry and its performers.

“There have always been cis-female performers interacting with trans performers in erotica, but it seems like their presence over the last few years has grown substantially, helped partially by the emergence of the FTM porn and by the amount of trans girls who are looking to work in this specific niche,” Grooby owner Steven Grooby said.

“Some companies have always run lines specializing in TS with cis-female performers but in recent award shows, it seems that the females in this award category, get squeezed out by the guys who are doing quite a different type of performance.

“It seemed more appropriate and fairer to create a separate award for those female performers to get into — and their fans, producers and models to rally behind.”

Grooby noted that TEA is looking forward to seeing the nominees for the award. There are currently over 20 TEA categories, including the special Model of the Year awards sponsored by various companies.

Pre-nomination voting is still open, with results being compiled into a short list of nominees for a secret panel of judges to vote on in the coming months. Other winners will be chosen by fan vote or by the company sponsoring the category.

Due to its growing popularity, the TEAs have been expanded into a three day event kicking off with a daytime TEA Con for fans on Saturday, the Awards on Sunday, and the official after party at the Avalon’s Bardot connecting property on Monday.

The 2016 Transgender Erotica Awards will be held on Sunday, March 6, at the Avalon in Hollywood, Calif.
