Matt Zane Marries Heavy Metal With Porn

HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. — Adult video director Matt Zane will combine his two loves — porn and heavy metal music — in “Radium,” a new series from Pleasure Productions.

Pleasure Productions’ contract star Tera Wray has been tapped to host the series, which features her traveling around the country interviewing bands, greeting fans, attending concerts and even getting instrument lessons from the rock stars themselves.

“Metal has a huge fan base around the world, and I know from touring the world and speaking with all the fans that about 99 percent love porn,” Zane said. “The problem is that a lot of adult stuff that is out there is difficult for them to relate to. If given the choice for something that ties directly into their lifestyle, if something like that were available, they would gravitate towards it.”

Zane, a Los Angeles-based rocker, is the frontman for heavy metal band Society 1, which has toured all over the world for the past six years, released five CDs, three DVDs and two music videos.

The series’ first installment has Wray attending California Metal Fest 2007, March 31- April 1, at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana, Calif.

Wray will introduce the band With Passion before introducing their new music video and will get a drum lesson from Society 1’s Bezerk Kirk.

Zane explained that “Radium” is dedicated to his band’s label, Earache Records, which is also the record company for every band featured in the first DVD.

In addition to Society 1, the first edition of the new series includes music from Municipal Waste, Cult Of Luna, Mortiis, Biomechanical, The Berzerker, Akercoke, With Passion and December Wolves in a video that Zane directed.

Zane will work with First Row Talent owner John Finberg to coordinate future bands and events. Finberg is a major booking agent with bands like Ministry and Powerman 5000 on his roster, according to Zane.

Zane added that The Gauntlet will carry complete coverage of each episode and help coordinate band interviews. Run by Jason Fisher, The Gauntlet is a large metal website.

“People always will want to see porn, and metal has been around since the 1970s,” Zane said. “It shows no signs of a dying musical style. It has outlasted disco, grunge, pop artist trends and it still is going strong.”
