Video: Re/code Looks at Future of VR Porn

LOS ANGELES — Re/code, the tech media company, has posted a new video report on the state of virtual reality and porn as the platform makes headways into the lives of consumers.

The video explains the numerous reasons why VR should take off and create a significant and welcome demand for porn, whether video content or live cam.

Re/code primarily took a look at performer Ela Darling’s enterprise and discussed her beliefs on the future of the sector.

“It’s a dire time,” Darling, a co-founder of VRTube, told Re/code. “There needs to be some new bastion of porn sales at some point, or else it’s going to become just a very exhilarating hobby.”

VRTube broadcasts a live cam girl session for an hour every week where Oculus Rift users can chat live with Darling as she performs.

Darling, of course, said that VR porn is the better way to go than traditional 2-D screen porn.

“There’s so much more that people want,” Darling said. “They want a human experience. They want something that helps fight the loneliness in their lives. They don’t just need to jizz; they need to connect with someone.”

The future of VR is just is around the corner with VR headsets from Oculus Rift, Samsung, Facebook, HTC, Sony and more hitting store shelves in the next nine months, Re/Code said, noting that the platform is increasingly seen as a lifeline for the adult entertainment industry, particularly when connected sex toys, or teledildonics, come into play.

Re/code pointed to the numerous adult studios that are contemplating producing VR content in a big way. A bright economic forecast yielding big numbers for the platform is the reason why.

Piper Jaffray estimates VR erotica will exceed $1 billion in revenue by 2020.

“[B]igger and more established porn companies such as NaughtyAmerica and Vivid are cautiously exploring it, partnering with outside studios to produce experimental films while also trying not to undermine their existing brands,” Re/code said.
