According to a report on celebrity gossip blog TMZ.com, SugarDVD has asked Barba, who recently made headlines after racy photos of the want-to-be-singer surfaced on the Internet, to serve as a spokesmodel for the company.
SugarDVD CEO Jax told XBIZ he hopes to enlist Barba’s help to promote the company’s new SugarVOD service.
“As an adult company, getting a popular mainstream spokesperson takes work,” Jax said. “You have to pretty much throw stacks of money on the table before having the discussion. I can't say every new attempt isn't fun.”
Last month, SugarDVD entered the fray of another celebrity sex scandal, offering to buy the Kim Kardashian sex tape. Adult entertainment studio Vivid Entertainment Group managed to secure the tape for $1 million. Kardashian is currently in litigation with Vivid over the tape.
This time around, Jax said he is determined not to be outbid.
“We will not lose because of money,” he said.
Angie, Jax’s assistant at SugarDVD, confirmed to XBIZ that the company was eager to make contact with Barba to put a deal together.
According to Angie, news of SugarDVD’s offer also will appear in E! Entertainment’s “Daily Ten,” which is a roundup of the day’s top gossip stories. The show airs at 7 p.m.
In the meantime, Joe Francis, the controversial owner of Mantra Films, which produces the “Girls Gone Wild” series, has said he would pay $250,000 to Barba if she agreed to be a spokesmodel for his video company.
