MONTREAL — Gamma Entertainment's Girlsway studio announced today the premiere of its new feature series, “The Turning” available at Girlsway.com.
The six-part lesbian horror story is simultaneously being released on select VOD platforms and as a special edition two-disc DVD, distributed by Girlfriend Films.
Directed by Bree Mills and Stills by Alan, the duo behind Girlsway’s “The Business of Women,” the feature delivers an evil fantasy about the days leading up to the lesbian apocalypse.
“This feature is really an allegory about social phobias,” Mills said, who also wrote and produced the series. She added, “The fact that people still associate being gay as an illness both fascinates and appalls me … so I decided to take this, turn it on its head, and make it into a literal horror story.”
“The Turning” tells the story of Halle White (Adriana Chechik), a lonely misfit who has never fit in, especially not with her new religious foster family. After being pressured to organize a bachelorette for her ungrateful foster sister (Anikka Albrite), she is pushed to the edge of an emotional breakdown and turns to an unusual support counselor (Mercedes Carrera) for guidance. What happens next takes Halle on a journey of transformation that will ultimately bring her the one thing she has always desired … a family who will truly love and accept her.
The cast also includes Dana Vespoli, Carter Cruise, Tara Morgan and Jelena Jensen.
“Alan and I had very big shoes to fill after the success of 'The Business of Women,'” Mills added. “So, we tried to take everything we had learned to apply to how we shot 'The Turning.' Part of our approach was to continue casting proven Girlsway Girls for our lead roles. All of our actresses were very excited to be part of the project and you can see the level of effort and passion in their final performances. I think our fans will be very pleased.”
The studio said it will release all six full-length episodes, along with bonus behind the scenes content, until the end of November. The full series will also be available for VOD viewing on GameLink and HotMovies.
