Tom Funk, president of High Def XXX, will conduct the workshop in which five “mini HD” cameras used frequently in adult shoots will be compared in regards to lighting, horizontal motion and ergonomics.
The Sony Z1U, JVC GY-HD-110U, JVC GY250U, Canon XL H1 and Panasonic HVX-200, provided by Birns and Sawyer, will be used to shoot footage that will later be put though post-production and high-def encoding and played side by side on high-def LCD, DLP and Plasma screens to compare the images. A professional monitor and vectorscope will be used to see at what points each camera loses visual quality. This phase of the test will be held at a later date.
Funk formed High Def XXX in 2003, releasing adult titles in both standard and the ill-fated Windows Media Video High Definition formats. His company now has complete in-house HD DVD authoring capabilities and offers services to select adult companies.
The XBIZ Hollywood '07 Industry Conference is the adult entertainment industry's next-generation annual conference. Set against the Hollywood glamour of the Roosevelt Hotel, the event will unite the power centers of the industry for two days of intensive workshops, seminars and networking opportunities. The conference takes place Feb. 7-8, and culminates with the 5th Annual XBIZ Awards at the Highlands on Feb. 8.
