Will Ryder, X-Play Begin Casting for 'Straight Outta Compton XXX'

LOS ANGELES — Director Will Ryder told XBIZ he has begun pre-production on “Straight Outta Compton XXX,” a parody of the notorious West Coast rap group N.W.A.

Ryder said he is timing the porn spoof to coincide with this summer’s release of the Universal Pictures mainstream movie of the same name. The adult version will be produced by X-Play, the studio he co-owns with Scott David.

The director, whose spoofs of “The Jersey Boys” and “Grease,” won back-to-back XBIZ Awards for Best Parody – Comedy in the past two years, is billing the “Straight Outta Compton” sendup as “the greatest XXX interracial biopic of all time.”

“I’ve always been a fan of Dr. Dre and N.W.A. and I actually used to know those guys back in the day,” said Ryder, aka Jeff Mullen, who had a career in the music business before getting into porn full time. “This is another fun, off-the-wall project that’s out of the ordinary for us.”

Ryder said he is now casting for principal parts featuring porn actors playing characters such as Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Eazy E, Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur and more.

“We’ll be featuring beautiful young white girls getting plowed by the toughest gangsters and rap artists of all time,” Ryder said.

“Straight Outta Compton” is the debut studio album by N.W.A. released in August 1988 by Eazy E.’s record label Ruthless Records. Produced by Dr. Dre, the album is widely considered the pioneering record of gangsta rap and part of the evolution of West Coast hip-hop.

“We’re going to put out a call to younger black male talent as well who can portray N.W.A. as youngsters," Ryder said. "We know they won’t look exactly like the characters. We’re not going to find a Thomas Ward from ‘Not the Cosbys.’ But we’ll be looking for a young Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eazy E, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and all those cats from N.W.A., along with Jerry Heller, who was the attorney for Ruthless Records."

Ryder added, “We’ll also cast for Suge Knight when the Death Row Records situation comes up."

The "Not the Wizard of Oz XXX" director said “Straight Outta Compton XXX” would not be a musical in a traditional sense, but that “music will play a prominent role in this movie.”

“Because if we don’t nail the hip-hop and show a lot about how it’s being created in the studio, we would be remiss and it won’t be a good parody biopic," Ryder noted. "So music will be a huge cornerstone of this."
