U.K. 'Sexhibition' Expo Launches Cinema Ad Campaign

MANCHESTER — Adult expo newcomer Sexhibition, which will hit Manchester for the first time this August, is capitalizing on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” phenomenon with a run of high-impact cinema advertising.

The erotic ad was shown on 225 screens during the mainstreams movie's opening weekend, and prominently features BDSM themes, latex attire and intricate corsetry.

Sexhibition organizer Cheryl Smith said, “The success of EL James books brought the topic of sexuality, especially female sexuality, into the mainstream, and whatever your opinion of the ‘Fifty Shades’ brand, it's got a lot of women talking about their fantasies, and that can only be a good thing.”

“With this event, we're celebrating the fact the wider British public are starting to feel able to openly discuss sexuality,” she added, referring to the upcoming Sexhibition. “Our visually stunning cinema ad campaign is absolutely representative of our manifesto — that of sexuality explored in a very glamorous and decadent environment — and forms a major part of a promotional strategy designed to attract a much wider, mainstream audience than would traditionally be expected.”

To be held at the Event City venue Aug. 21-22, Sexhibition organizers say the event will be “the ultimate in decadence and debauchery.” According to the event’s website, Sexhibition will bring together elements of sex, erotica, the adult industry, burlesque, fetish, the BDSM lifestyle and combine it with live music, DJ sets, burlesque, cabaret, film and performance art in an inclusive and sex-positive environment.

There will also be an “After Dark” component of exhibition that will offer attendees racy entertainment in upscale, nightclub settings.
