The Penthouse Club Opens in Perth, Australia

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — General Media Communications, Inc., publisher of Penthouse Magazine celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015, on Tuesday announced the grand opening of The Penthouse Club Perth, the first location of the brand in Australia. The Penthouse Club Perth is owned and operated by Lilly Merendino and Derek Mason, owners of Club Xotica at the same site since 1999, which was converted to the Penthouse brand.

Mason said, “After 16 years of successfully operating Club Xotica, we wanted to make a change that would not just be new, because new wears off, but would be different and exciting for Perth. It became clear the only way to do that was with the world famous Penthouse brand and a complete remodel. The high standards and image of The Penthouse Club are already bringing us people that never came before and encouraging all our staff, from entertainers to waitresses, to up their game.”

Jeff Stoller, director of global club licensing for Penthouse, remarked, “Perth is a terrific city, Derek and Lilly are superb operators, the girls are beautiful and the combination is sure to provide some top flight hospitality and entertainment for an audience, many of whom stopped going out many years ago because there was nothing at this level that made them feel comfortable.”

“The Penthouse Club will be something really exciting for Perth,” said co-owner Lilly Merendino. “With a lot of planning and off-site manufacturing, we were able to completely renovate the property in a three-week period over the holidays.”

In addition to an entirely new décor featuring Chesterfield upholstered walls, two new champagne rooms and a skybox, the remodel also included several high-tech features such as on-off glass on the skybox, a giant stereo video projection and a fog screen — all of which are firsts for Perth.

“The Penthouse Club is a first-class entertainment venue," Merendino said. "It will cater to the business and professional community, along with everyone who grew up with the world-famous Penthouse brand. A lot of people will be pleasantly surprised when they see the kind of quality our great city has been missing."

The club also is located in the central business and entertainment district.
