LOS ANGELES — Smash Pictures, still riding the momentum from Will Ryder's well-received parody "American Hustle XXX," has struck a new deal with the veteran director to create an original feature.
The untitled movie is currently in development and will capitalize on the director's flair for comedy.
Ryder's parody stars Aaliyah Love, Penny Pax, Carter Cruise, Luna Star, Rio Lee and Mia Austin and is one of the most nominated adult movies of the year collecting 12 XBIZ award nominations. The male leads were Tommy Gunn and Ryan McLane.
"Our goal was to create great entertainment for those that loved the Hollywood movie and it was also an objective to be in major contention come awards time and I'm happy to say we succeeded on both fronts," said Stuart Wall, vice president of Smash Pictures who is the point man behind this project along with owner Dan Quinn.
Ryder was a bit surprised at getting asked to dance again so quickly with the successful Chatsworth-based company and welcomes the news.
"Smash is a great company with a nice variety of movies by a number of excellent directors so it's really heart-warming and flattering that they would want to make a new feature with me so quickly in the midst of this great run that 'American Hustle XXX' is enjoying," Ryder remarked.
