BEIJING — In its continuing battle to eradicate online porn, China’s Cyberspace Administration (CAC) has vowed to filter "harmful" online videos throughout the country.
According to reports, the campaign will run through December and target "five key Internet areas" including online storage services, mobile phone app stores, video links shared on social networks and instant messaging platforms such as the popular Weibo and WeChat, unlicensed video streaming websites and smart TVs and video terminals.
The latest crackdown is a joint effort between the CAC and State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
Also on China’s hit list to be shut down are Internet accounts and websites that cause "severe impact" to the state's population," CAC official Liang Lihua said.
