LOS ANGELES — It may be a prevailing trend now where film porn stars move into camming to boost their careers and pad their wallets, but one successful performer has turned the tables.
MILF Mindi Mink — who was recently signed as Girlfriends Films’ first-ever cam-to-DVD contract girl — and only one of two stars who hold the exclusive distinction along with Prinzzess Felicity Jade— was adamant about getting into movies after meeting the Girlfriends team at an adult conference.
Her large camming fan base coupled with a relentless, six-month email campaign netted her a scene shot with Girlfriend’s Dan O’Connell who said her performance blew him away.
What sparked Mink to get into camming in the first place was partly due to her partner of four years who said she would be great in front of a camera. “After dating for two years and thinking of other ways to make some money, he suggested I try web camming. Since I'm such a sexual creature and love turning people on, it just seemed like the perfect fit,” Mink said.
She began her camming job at Streamate.com, and recalls that her first time was extremely confusing regarding the use of the interface and because she was nervous. She also had to learn the ropes about being herself and how much to charge per minute. “They actually told me I wasn't charging enough per minute, so I knew I was on to something good. They appreciated my sensual ways and were amazed that I was 43 years old, so that was encouraging to say the least.”
The now 45 year-old bisexual Arizona native — who also runs a remodel construction business — realized that after getting healthy feedback from her webcam fans, all wanting to see her interact with others, movies might be the next step. That coupled with her “lifelong attraction to women,” made her think films were the perfect avenue to fulfill both needs — especially with lesbian-centric Girlfriends.
When asked why she thinks Girlfriends signed her above vso many other cam girls, Mink said she feels it’s due in part to her sensual, slow kissing and the sexual build-up she creates with the girls. “Knowing how to seduce and understanding the vision Dan and [Girlfriends President] Moose have for their films is important. I'm naturally that type of lover anyways, and I think finding a sexy, older MILF is always a plus,” Mink said.
And the move to movies hasn’t disappointed. Her first scene with Carter Cruise in “Lesbian Seductions 48” — set for an Oct. 3 release — was described by Mink as exciting and explosive. O'Connell called it the longest scene he has ever filmed, and he's shot more than 3,000 girl/girl scenes.
Mink’s move to DVDs may be more than just a smart career move. The transition in fact may also be a bellwether for other production companies signaling that the huge popularity of some cam girls now translates to a large demand for the permanent appeal of DVDs — providing new revenue streams similar to the traditional cache' of top film porn stars.
And this new wrinkle appears to be only the beginning for the cam-to-DVD star herself. She says she’s looking to be in an all-girl orgy film next, while still doing her camming two to four days a week when her mainstream business allows. Like a number of industry watchers, Mink believes the camming industry will move towards interactive toys between the model and customer that will provide “an incredible to experience for both involved.”
Despite her newfound success, Mink’s goals are simple. “I just want to enjoy the journey I've been so blessed to be given — continue to make sexy scenes for my fans and Girlfriends Films, while learning more about the other aspects of the adult business for future goals.”
But if her DVDs prove to be as popular as her cam sessions, Mink may in fact be the poster girl for a new adult content paradigm.
