TightFit Productions Imposes 21+ Age Restriction

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Opting to find some middle ground in the glut of contemporary adult videos, TightFit Productions will no longer shoot female talent under the age of 21.

The studio’s decision is based on the lack of life experience of some female performers — many of who enter the adult industry not far removed from their eighteenth birthday.

“Certainly, morality comes into play in this decision,” TightFit Productions’ Vice President Joanie Lee told XBIZ. “Oren [Cohen, TightFit’s owner] and I came up with this idea during a production meeting while we were having a discussion about MILF lines and saw performers who weren’t even 30 years old. There doesn’t seem to be much middle ground between teens and MILFs these days. The bottom line is, it just didn’t feel right for us to shoot young girls.”

While the teen niche is a large and popular segment of the adult DVD marketplace, Lee acknowledges that TightFit is going to lose that market, but wanted to blaze a new trail.

The company’s new goal is to shoot women in their early to mid-20’s and older who are aggressive, passionate, a little more experienced and exhibit confidence on camera, according to Lee — qualities she did not find in many younger performers.

“I think sexual inexperience and some hesitance comes across on camera for teen performers,” Lee said. “In porn from the 1970s and 80’s the women seemed more confident, more inspired and more importantly, totally comfortable because they were a little older and wiser. They knew exactly what was expected of them.”

Cohen and Lee instituted the mandatory age policy approximately 30 days ago and put it into effect immediately for all of TightFit’s upcoming productions.
