LOS ANGELES — Kayden Kross and Manuel Ferrara, life partners, become directing partners with “Misha Cross Wide Open.” Released this month by Manuel Ferrara/Evil Angel, the credit reads, for the first — but not last — time, “Directed by Manuel Ferrara and Kayden Kross.”
The “Wide Open” line, Kayden explains, is “when Manuel finds a girl who will give her all — before the rest of the industry does.” The Polish starlet, with her “raw sexual energy,” is the third porn beginner to headline a “Wide Open,” after Bailey Blue and Sheena Shaw.
Ferrara met Misha in Berlin and, convinced she was “going to blow up,” booked her immediately. She was coming to Los Angeles to work, but only for three months. He managed to get her for four consecutive days, the last time available on her schedule.
Right now, in the couple’s West Valley condo, a photographer is shooting Misha in a mirror as she daintily applies lipstick and mascara. She has a large tattoo on her upper right arm, very white skin (no tan), perfect small breasts, a nice round ass, and a big, pretty smile.
For a month she’s been working non-stop, but in two days time she’ll be on a plane back to Europe. She shoots mostly in Budapest — for Rocco Siffredi, Nacho Vidal, 21st Sextury, and her favorite, Pierre Woodman. Has Marc Dorcel in Paris shown any interest? She smiles shyly and shakes her head. “They don’t like tattoos.”
They’ll be working tonight in a luxe West Hills location, often used by porn producers. A long and winding road ends near a hilltop manor in a ritzy cul de sac. From outside it looks like just another $6 million property, but the doors open onto a long corridor that shotguns you onto a wide lawn with — to put it mildly — a spectacular view. All of Porn Valley expands to the east as far as the eye can see, a breathtaking panorama.
On the south side is a two-level Roman-style pool where the party-scene extras are hanging out: three girls, including Girlfriends Films regular Jenna J. Ross, looking adorable, and a couple of civilian guys.
Ferrara has evidently shot here before. When a woman who seems to be in charge appears, he greets her warmly and, loud and proud, introduces Kayden: “This is my fiancée. She had a baby six months ago.”
They are definitely a loving couple — the body language in their intimate confabs makes that clear — and well-matched work-mates too.
For this “Wide Open,” Manuel told Kayden, “I’m giving you creative control.” He specified the scenes he needed and let her take it from there. He’s directing all the sex while she handles the story setups.
As a serial contract girl (Vivid, Adam & Eve, Digital Playground), most of Kayden’s experience has been in features and vignette movies. “As long as I’ve been in the business it’s been two days a month. I’ve done fewer scenes in my entire career than a lot of girls do in a year.” But her lack of gonzo cred doesn’t matter because “Manuel directs sex better than anyone.”
Three of the movie’s four scenes are in the can. The first was an anal with Ferrara. “I don’t watch Manuel’s scenes,” Kayden says, but she’s confident it was volcanic.
Then came her own lesbian encounter with Misha, with Kayden doing the anal penetration — her first ever in girl-girl action — in order to “give Misha’s booty a break.”
Then a blowbang with five men. Kayden thought up a cool transition from multiple cumshots to the next scene: after the guys shoot on her face she had Misha cover her eyes with both hands for a cut to the exact shot in a shower. Having never seen a blowbang she didn’t know that they traditionally end with the girl luxuriating in her semen-drenched face, not covering it up.
She refers to it as “my dumb gonzo mistake.”
Tonight Misha will experience a double penetration with veteran studs Mick Blue and Ramon Nomar. Mick has just rolled in with his stunning wife Anikka Albrite, who will be one of the extras in the party scene.
The guests grab their glasses of fake champagne and whisky and strike party poses. Kayden’s direction is very hands-on as she tells them where to stand and how to react. “It occurs to you guys that you might be able to have sex with her,” she tells Mick and Ramon. The Spanish actor is already feeling her up.
Misha, the centerpiece, looks both drop-dead sexy and oddly vulnerable in an off-the-shoulder red dress, her long hair swept up from her neck. Kayden shows her how to make her entrance through the wide front doors
It’s like a people train: Misha sails through the partying couples, followed by Alex Ladd and his camera, followed and guided by Manuel, followed by Kayden, who gives the star directions. “Slow down, look around, walk away…”
Misha glides onto the terrace, past a long banquet table, between the waving palm trees and stops at lawn’s edge, hovering over the vast carpet of twinkling lights. Then she turns and walks back through the party. Ramon and Mick put down their drinks and follow her.
Where they end up is in a white-tiled, remodeled bedroom. “We made it a point,” Kayden says later, “to make the d. p. scene the most comfortable so that she would be able to give it her all without worrying about falling off a desk or a rock or something terrible.”
The scene, she reports, “went amazingly well… She’d been saving up a lot of her energy for that day. She takes direction extremely well, she's smart, she's dynamite on camera, and she has a very seductive way of moving. I think what we shot really did that justice.
“More than anything, I'm very pleased with the effort she put in. She met with me ahead of the shoot to work on dialogue and practice the moves that we wanted from the character. She was everything we'd hoped for when we booked the movie. We couldn't have chosen a better girl.”
