Charlotte, N.C.-based video-on-demand provider AEBN said it will feature condom-only content on the front page of its main gay site on Dec. 1 to help raise awareness of the global health problem.
AEBN Gay Content Manager Chris Baker said bareback films typically rank among the site’s most-watched content. According to Baker, the decision to feature condom-only content on World AIDS Day is fitting way to honor the day’s message.
“This is a very important day for AEBN to commemorate,” AEBN's Suzann Knudsen said. “AIDS awareness is something that is of particular importance to this industry and supporting efforts to combat it, even in a small way, is something worth doing.”
In the meantime, Toronto-based gay VOD provider Maleflixxx said it will continue its efforts to raise funds for the cause with the Second Annual Red Ribbon Campaign.
Maleflixxx donates $1 for every rental on World AIDS Day to support treatment of the disease in Africa.
"Maleflixxx is committed to supporting organizations that work to impact the livelihoods of communities being devastated by the HIV/AIDS epidemic worldwide,” company President Eric Johnson said. “All of the proceeds raised by this initiative will be donated to a registered charity that works to support grassroots, community-based organizations and initiatives in their fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa.”
World AIDS Day began in 1988 with the goals of raising money to fight the disease, increasing awareness of the problem and encouraging education to combat the prejudice that surrounds HIV/AIDS.
“HIV/AIDS knows no boundaries of age, race or sexual preference,” Johnson said. “As members of the gay adult entertainment industry, we believe that it is our responsibility to do our part in fighting this terrible disease by providing financial assistance and facilitating open communication about HIV/AIDS. This is our way of working toward a worldwide goal.”
