NEW YORK — Porn star turned comedian/podcast host Alia Janine gave an exclusive interview to Vice Magazine following a stand-up performance at The Gotham Comedy Club last week.
Janine credited her early success as a comedian to her past career as a porn star.
“If it weren’t for dick I wouldn’t be here today. But I have taken quite a few dicks and I’m pretty good at jokes, too. Porn actors and comedians have a shitload in common and I have a joke about it in my act,” Janine said. “If you haven’t lived in misery or you’ve had a perfect life you can’t take a joke or tell a joke. Tragedy is comedy.”
Fans of Janine can see her at two comedy showcases in Manhattan in The Smut Show! at The Stand on Aug. 21 at 11:30 p.m., and at the annual Character Flawed All-Pro Comedy Series at Stand Up NY Comedy Club on Aug. 23 at 5 p.m.
On Aug. 8 Janine will be talking about her life as a porn star and a comedian live, in-studio on Sirius XM’s Derek and Romaine Show at 8:20 p.m. EDT on the Sirius Out Q Channel 106.
