The movie will open a Halloween celebration at midnight Saturday at New York’s Pioneer Theater and on Friday at 10 p.m. at Philadelphia’s Roxy Theater.
Bernard Nearey, manager of the Roxy, said scheduling a hardcore movie in his theater was an easy decision.
“Our audiences are pretty sophisticated,” Nearey said. “I’ve had adult movies here before and I hardly every hear complaints.”
Nearey also said that the movie’s director, Dough Sakmann, personally phoned and convinced him to show “The XXXorcist” and Sakmann’s other hardcore horror title, “Re-Penetrator.”
“I always felt that this movie should have a theatrical premiere,” Sakmann said, “and give people a chance to see it on a big screen. I think people who see it will see that Joanna is a really good actress, and not only in her sex scenes, but overall.”
Joanna Angel agreed that the movie deserved a big-screen debut.
“To me it’s more of a horror movie than a porn,” she said. “I’m happy to have it in movie theaters. I had a good time making it.”
“The XXXorcist” also will premiere this weekend at two non theatrical venues, The Dragonfly in Los Angeles and Lenny’s in Atlanta.
